The IT Administrator provides IT infrastructure and end-user support and coordinates IT systems supporting the Finance and Administrative functions of the IMF Shanghai Center and the China-IMF Capacity Development Center (CICDC). The role supports the smooth operation of systems through effective workflow coordination and plays a key role in in-person, virtual, and hybrid training events, including IT, audiovisual, and network setup. The incumbent should be flexible, service-oriented, and able to multitask, with strong analytical and technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, database management, and a sound understanding of enterprise networking. Training will be provided as required.

The IT Administratorwillreporttothe Office Managers of the IMF Shanghai Center and of CICDC, under the general supervision of the Directors of both institutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

    Manage and support office IT infrastructure, including Windows server environments (file and print services), LAN configurations, IP addressing, Cisco switches, backup devices, and disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning (BCP); work closely with Headquarters IT teams to support network operations, troubleshoot connectivity and endpoint issues, and escalate incidents as required.

    Provide and manage endpoint devices and connect client computers to the network; manage shared folders, install and configure network printers, and deploy required software.

    Troubleshoot laptop and desktop issues including connectivity problems, operating system boot failures, system performance issues, and access problems; provide Tier‑1 user support for participants, visitors and staff IT issues.

    Coordinate with external vendors, OEM support centers and service providers for maintenance and support activities. Support implementation of global IT standards, tools, and security policies.

    Provide on-site technical support for network equipment managed through the Meraki platform, including device status verification, physical connectivity checks, basic testing, issue diagnosis, information collection, and feedback.

    Handle audiovisual equipment such as LCD projectors, sound systems, and video conferencing infrastructure used in in-person, virtual, and hybrid training programs, workshops, and events, including pre-session setup, testing, live session support, and post-session follow-up, ensuring reliable operation during training sessions and daily activities.

    Manage IT assets and documentation, including device registration, labeling, inventory tracking, issuance and returns, lifecycle management, and maintaining IT‑related records such as asset inventories, incident logs, support records, meeting room equipment documentation, and basic operating guides.

    Provide technical support to participants of CICDC courses and workshops on software installation and develop/update bilingual documentation.


Desirable IT Skills

    Knowledge of website design using a Content Management System (CMS) or basic HTML/CSS.

    Knowledge of Firewall and anti-virus software.

    Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro as well as Co-pilot, teams and other supporting digital applications.

    Experience with Meraki or similar environments, and with Copilot/Teams/Zoom/AV/ Poly conference systems

    Experience with photoshop, database and statistical packages and learning management systems like Moodle would be an advantage.

    Knowledge of UPS and power backup systems for data centers.

    Knowledge of CCTV camera and access control systems.

    Knowledge of VoIP and unified communication.

    Basic scripting or programming knowledge (e.g., Python or R) would be an advantage.


Qualifications and Experience

    A graduate degree in computer science or related field with diploma. 5 years of post-qualification experience.

    Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English and Chinese

    The ability to manage and resolve on site IT issues independently, follow through on team priorities and respond to requests for information.

    The ability to produce high-quality work under pressure, to manage multiple tasks, and complete tasks within agreed schedule. Attention to detail.

    The ability to communicate clearly, expresses ideas and concerns openly and constructively, and deliver verbal and written information effectively



Note: the work involves frequent interactions with office staff at all levels, IMF Headquarters staff, official visitors, and vendors/government officials.
