DescriptionOur summer interns gain an insider’s view of the member-country-focused mandate and critical international work of the IMF. You will build professional networks while you apply your research and analytical skills to help us explore questions of real importance to our member countries and to global economic stability. Whether you see a future for yourself in international organizations or are simply curious about policy and operational work, this is an ideal opportunity to familiarize yourself with both while leveraging your cutting-edge skills and expanding your research experience.
Successful applicants will undertake a 10-12 week paid internship between June and September 2024. The precise dates of the internship will be agreed between the intern and IMF supervisor at time of offer. The internship will be in-person located at the IMF headquarters in Washington DC.Under the guidance of an experienced IMF colleague, you will conduct research and analysis on a topic determined by the Fund. Your work may culminate in a research paper and may be published internally.
QualificationsTo compete for the FIP, at a minimum you must meet the following criteria:PhD studentsBe within one to two years of completing a PhD in macroeconomics or a related field.Be in student status at the time of the internship (i.e. continuing PhD studies after the internship).Be below the age of 32 at the commencement of the internship.Have an excellent command of English, written and oral.Possess strong analytical, quantitative and computer skills.Master's studentsCompleting a Master's degree in macroeconomics or a related field.Below the age of 28 at the commencement of the internship.Have an excellent command of English, written and oral.Possess strong analytical, quantitative and computer skills.
